Abstract

This book gathers a long-term and collaborative work of a wide group of researchers, teachers, students and graduates in Social Science (particularly in the fields of History and Anthropology) from different scientific and educational institutions of Argentina. Its objective is to contribute critical scientific knowledge on the social interethnic relations and its cultural, territorial and temporal (from the fifteenth century up to the present) dynamics of today’s Province of Córdoba in an ethnohistorical key through a thorough analysis of the historical sources in their diverse formats. This allows the approach of an issue that contributes to thinking and revising the sociohistorical links of the Indigenous population in different territorial scales and periods in the province. The aim is to reveal the historical complexity of the Indigenous ethnicity by placing these peoples as actors constitutive of the past and present societies, as they have been silenced, denied and subjected to social asymmetrical practices of power and domination in the provincial and regional history. The critical view of the interethnic relations consolidates, in the historiographic and anthropological studies, the requirement to consider the mentioned ethnicity as indispensable for analysing the past and present of the societies of Córdoba through time.
