Approaches for the socio-spatial structuring of the livestock in the Territory of Misiones

Abstract

In recent decades there have been various investigations on the territorial stage studied by local specialists, emphasizing settlement, extractive activities among others. The fact of locating, by chance, some period records on livestock production led us to raise the problem of the socio-spatial structure in livestock activities in Misiones.
This is how we propose to describe the configuration of livestock production in the National Territory of Misiones towards the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, identifying the areas of territorial expansion, the production units and the social subjects involved in this process. To do this, we analyze the data provided by the Property and Trademark Registration books (owners, place, brands, transfers, etc.) and represent them graphically and cartographically. This made it possible to identify, on the one hand, the areas of greater and lesser livestock development and, on the other, the socioeconomic sectors to which the producers belong.
