Dentro de las luchas y tensiones que caracterizaron al espacio fronterizo entre indios y euroamericanos en el centro de la actual República Argentina a lo largo del siglo XIX, hubo un episodio sumamente curioso por las contradicciones entre los informes que dan cuenta del mismo, ya sea que provengan de historiadores o no. Se trata del combate de la Laguna Amarilla.
A su alrededor se tejió una controversia que plantea tres ejes: el lugar, la fecha y sus principales actores. El objetivo del presente trabajo es realizar un aporte al esclarecimiento de este verdadero rompecabezas histórico.

Abstract
Among the fights and tensions characterizing the frontier area between Indians and euroamericans during the XIX century, in the centre of what is at present the Argentina Republic, there was a highly curious episode because of the contradictions in existing reports either from historians or not.
Namely, the battle of the Yellow Lagoon. A controversy was woven around three axes: the place, the date and the main actors. The aim of this paper is to make a contribution in elucidating this real historic jigsaw puzzle.
